Why on earth would you let him take something like that on a bus knowing it was going to be left on there without supervision?
i think all the kids take their ipods and phones on the bus and to school and elsewhere. you must not have kids this age if you have to ask. the coach takes phones up so they are not used for texting in the game. ipods are not taken up. but the real question is not how stupid my young son was trusting the people from this school area and for minding his own business and not knowing the bus is not locked but why can't people leave things alone that does not belong to them.
I am sorry to hear about your son's misfortune, it is sad that people can't be trusted. But, it is unfair to assume that someone from Effingham is the thief when it could just as well have been one of your own. For it to have been an Ebenezer kid, they would have to be very bold to enter a strange bus in front of the entire crowd at the baseball game and stayed on there long enough to riffle through bags until they found the ipod, which I assume was the only thing missing, and the thief found nothing else to take in any other bags but your son's ipod. What is more likely, the thief knew where it was and when to furtively enter the bus without raising eyebrows....you need to investigate within before you come on here accusing a community.
yes it is a misfortune that my son is young and never had anything stolen from him. he had left this in plan view on the seat not knowing the bus was not locked or that others could not be trusted. i guess we are lucky to live where we do. even though we do have crime this is the first time ever we have had a problem. luckily not at home. to answer you though. the bus floor, seats, every bag and pocket was searched before the bus left the parking lot. those boys play some kind of travel ball all year long and have played together for 8 years. most all have thier own phones and ipods. i don't think they really cared to take his. they are all friends. propability wise speaken though the number of people from this area of effingham outnumbered the people from our area so the likelyhood of it being a child or teen from effingham co who took this is greater. the sad part is this child who obviously didn't know much about an ipod didn't know that most are locked with a code and to charge it well the charger is about as much as the ipod. also try hooking someone elses pod up to your itunes account and see what it says. this stolen pod is just about useless to anyone who took it. now that we did do our investigative work in advance only i didn't mention that before you harped on me, let me say to you since you so kindly want to defend the theif. maybe next time they steal they will be a little older. a little bolder and maybe it will be your house not my ipod. after all. it did happen in YOUR neighborhood.
I did not defend a thief, I merely pointed out it is just as likely the culprit was one of yours as one of ours. I did express remorse that your kid's ipod was stolen and you in return wish upon me for my house to get robbed...that was rude. I will leave it at this, your son learned a valuable lesson for life, if you leave valuables in plain sight in unlocked vehicles they are just as likely to get stolen at church as a baseball game...whether it is in Waynesboro or Rincon or New York City.
that i will agree on. he did learn a lesson. i in fact didn't even know he had it at the time but still. i am sorry that i said that about your house but i simply came to this nice site to ask for help and i get attacked for doing so. if you will read back to my first blog i didn't say it was someone from ebenezer or effingham. i said an unwelcome guest entered the bus.
You were hardly attacked. As a middle school teacher, though, I will say that most students have a huge sense of entitlement. If they see something they want, many of them will simply take it. It's very sad that many children aren't being raised with the right morals and values.
This posting is 4 months later than the last one. I am wondering if the kid ever got his stuff back.
