The Best Side Hustles To Earn Extra Income
The cost of living has gone steadily up over that past few decades without a viable increase in wages. That means people are paying more and receiving less. But it’s not the end of the world if a person’s main source of income isn’t allowing for savings and planning family vacations.
Sometimes a side hustle is necessary to help bring in the bacon. Though there are several ways help improve your financial situation, here are some great tips to make some extra dough during free time.
People with specific skill sets like graphic design, writing and photography should look for freelance work they can complete outside of normal work hours. There are thousands of businesses and individuals that need work done, but don’t want to hire a full-time employee. Check out job posting websites or even call local businesses to ask if they are in need of any services. You’d be surprised the amount of work you can find and you may have to turn down some gigs just to make time for yourself.
Driving Your Car
If you have a clean car and clean driving method, you may want to consider turning your sweet ride into a part-time taxi to make those extra bucks. People who drive for Uber or Lyft can make up to $35 an hour. That’s enough to save for the car of your dreams, like a Mercedes Benz. Getting your car ready for taxi service is usually quite easy, and depending on who you are picking up, you could build a great network of business professionals that may want you to do some freelancing for them (see Freelancing above).
If you don’t want to drive your own car, see if any of the local taxi services are hiring drivers with work times that fit your schedule.
Selling Your Stuff
The internet is a wonderful thing. We can all look at cat pictures and memes whenever we want, but those looking to make some money can use the world wide web to sell valuables to interested buyers around the globe. There are several sites out there to help you squeeze every last dollar out of your valuables. If you’re up for meeting buyers locally, try posting an ad on Craigslist, but meet in a busy, public space to complete any transactions.
If you aren’t willing to take the risk of meeting a buyer in person, create an Ebay account and allow potential buyers to bid on your items. That way you can get the highest possible price and don’t even have to walk farther than your mailbox to ship items to their new owners.
If you’re selling a higher priced item like a car, make sure to have it appraised and examined by a mechanic. Also, use reference guides like Kelly Blue Book to determine an automobile’s potential selling price.
Do Yard Work In Your Neighborhood
To some people, pushing a lawnmower around their neighborhoods to mow lawns for extra cash seems like something only a teenager would do. But charging $20 a lawn could help you net an extra $400 a month, assuming you mowed at least five lawns per week.
Although many people mow their own lawns of already pay for a lawn care service, there are other ways to earn money via yard work. Try renting out a lawn aerator from the local hardware store and spend springtime Saturdays cruising your local suburbs to see who’d like their lawn aerated. Chances are, most people don’t have the time to aerate their own lawns and they’d be happy to pay someone else to do the job.
If yardword isn’t your thing, offer your services as a handyman/woman. Often times, people don’t have the tools or knowledge to complete basic repairs around their homes. You can always pass out business cards to your neighbors and fit extra work in on evenings and weekends,
