Let's face it...we have all felt "stuck" before, whether in a job, marriage, or depression. My grandchild, Laura Grace got stuck under the bed the other night. Apparently, her shirt got hung on part of the bed railing beneath the mattress and she was unable to move. By the time I reached her she was standing beside the bed without a shirt with tears rolling down her face. She said, "Nae-Nae, I kept crying for help and nobody came...not even you!"
Well, as you can imagine my heart sank and feelings of being an "unfit" grandmother poured in. However, the scene quickly turned into a teaching moment as I knelt down beside her. I said, "Laura, there will be many times in your life that you will feel trapped and think nobody hears your cries, but just like God gave you the wisdom to remove your shirt and slide out from underneath the bed, He will show you ways out of other helpless situations.
Laura Grace wiped her cheeks with the back of her hand and ran off to play.
And so it is with us...God's children.
"But in my distress I cried out to the LORD; yes, I cried to my God for help. He heard me from his sanctuary; my cry reached his ears."
